India U19 team is the 2012 ICC U19 World Champions      Top
India U19, 2012 ICC world champsAug 26, 2012: In today’s exciting finals at Townsville, Queensland, India beats Australia by six wickets to lift the 2012 ICC U-19 World Cup.

Indian Captain Unumkt Chand's unbeaten 111 and Smit Patel’s 62 helped the team to lift the world cup.

Australia made 8-225 after being sent in to bat, with Captain William Bosisto top-scoring with 87 not out.

India started strongly before collapsing to 4-97, but Chand guided his side to the victory target in the 48th over.

Chand, who hit seven fours and six sixes, shared in a 130-run partnership with Smit Patel (62 not out), who hit the winning runs with 14 balls remaining.

Indian skipper Chand said that he is very happy with this victory and thanked his coaches, team management, team members, millions of Indians back home who prayed for their success and the grand audience at the final who encouraged them.

This is really a great achievement for young U-19 team India, beating Aussies on their home ground is indeed a spectacular and memorable event.

Aussie women cricket at VizagMar 19, Vizag: Australia women begin T20 series with win at Vizag.

Australia's women continued their total domination of India with a 29-run victory in the opening T20 in Vizag.

Having chosen to bat first, the tourists set a solid total of 138 for seven wickets from their 20 overs, thanks in no small part to some belligerent hitting from in-form batswoman Jess Cameron, who struck six fours and two sixes in a 52-ball 67.

Harmanpreet Kaur showed some resistance, scoring 57 from 48 balls, but she found little support from her colleagues and India ultimately slid to 109 for eight from their 20 overs, well short of the target.

Australia take a 1-0 lead in the five-game series, having already whitewashed their hosts in the one-day games.

Sehwag Breaks Tendulkar's record, India wins ODI Series      Top
Virender SehwagDec 08, Indore: Indore was home to two of India's greatest cricketers, CK Nayudu and Syed Mushtaq Ali. The two richly talented all-rounders were known for their fearless big-hitting that entertained Indian crowds.

How fitting was it that the most fearless of India's batsmen and the straightest of talkers — Virender Sehwag — paid rich tribute to those masters by breaking the record for the highest score in a one-day international at Indore's Holkar Stadium today.

After electing to bat against the West Indies, the Indian opener and stand-in captain made 219 off 149 balls, becoming just the second man to score a double-ton in ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar was the first in 2010, when he made 200 not out not too far from Indore in Gwalior against South Africa.

As you would expect in an innings of this nature, the West Indian bowlers threw everything they could at Sehwag to no avail. The Indian opener toyed with the field placements, picked up boundaries with ridiculous ease, prompting Chris Gayle to jocularly describe the innings as "child abuse."

Sehwag's form had been questioned after a string of casual dismissals and small scores. However, with this innings, he buried those concerns, powering India to a record 418-5, setting up a series win with a game left in Chennai.

He had two big partnerships along the way: 176 with the opening wicket with Gautam Gambhir (67 at a run-a-ball) to kick off the run-fest and 140 with Suresh Raina (55 off 44) to keep the momentum strong.

The 33-year-old completed a hundred off just 69 balls and the double off just 140. He had some luck along the way. On 97, a difficult catch was put down at point as Sehwag slashed a four to get to his hundred. Later on a 170, West Indies captain Darren Sammy put down a sitter running back at extra-cover.

Sehwag completed the double hundred in just the 44th over, cutting Andre Russell for four. The shot took him to 201, beating Tendulkar's record.

This was Sehwag's 15th three-figure knock in one-day cricket and the first since making 175 against Bangladesh in the opening match of the World Cup in Dhaka in February this year.

Sehwag was closing in on the highest score ever in an ODI — 229 by Australian women's cricket legend Belinda Clark — when he was dismissed by Kieron Pollard, trying to hit a six over long-off.

Sehwag scored his 219 runs off just 149 balls, scoring 25 fours and seven sixes. The 32 hits to the boundary are also an ODI record. (inputs from Yahoo)

On 24th Feb.2010 Ravi Shastri asked to Sachin Tendulkar"who can break your milestone in future" that time Tendulkar smile and said"only it'll be broken by sehwag" and he has done it today....on 8 Dec 2011 at 5.37 PM

In an SMS sent to NDTV, Sachin wrote, "I am very happy for Viru. It is even more satisfying that an Indian has broken my record." Prior to Sehwag's effort Sachin's unbeaten 200 run score against South Africa in 2010 was the only double ton in ODIs.

Mumbai Indians Lifts 2011 Champions League T20 Trophy      Top
Mumbai Indians CLT20Oct 09, Chennai: The Mumbai Indians silenced the Royal Challengers Bangalore's big hitting line up to win the T20 Champions League final thanks to a comprehensive 31 run victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Indians sealed their first ever title in a low scoring affair after the Royal Challengers failed to chase down a total of just 140 despite chasing down totals of over 200 in their previous two games.

With runs at a premium, New Zealander James Franklin tipped the balance in favour of the Indians thanks to an innings of 41 after the early loss of Aiden Blizzard (3) and Sarul Kanwar (13).

Suryakumar Yadav (24) and Ambati Rayudu (22) enjoyed cameo performances to help the Indians record a total of 139 despite some impressive bowling performances Dirk Nannes (1-14) and Raju Bhatkal (3-21).

With a reasonably small total to chase, the Royal Challengers got off to a good start thanks to Tillakaratne Dilshan (27) and Chris Gayle (5) who shared an opening stand of 38 before Dilshan was bowled by Lasith Malinga (2-23) in the 5th over.

Despite the good start, Gayle, Mayank Agarwal (14) and Virat Kohli (11) quickly followed to leave the Royal Challengers 73-4 at the end of the 12th over thanks to two quick break throughs from Harbhajan Singh (3-20).

With wickets falling at regular intervals the Royal Challengers run chase went off the rails as they slumped to a total of just 108 after Raju Bhatkal (6) was dismissed in the finals over to spark wild celebration on the Indians bench.

Skipper Unmukt's Unbeaten Ton keeps India U-19 on Top      Top
India U19 Skipper Unmukt Chand and TeamOct 06, Vizag: Skipper Unmukt Chand scored a blistering century to help India Under-19 team register a seven-wicket victory over Sri Lankans in the four-nation U-19 Quadrangular tournament here on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first, the visitors could not negotiate the guile and variation of Indian tweakers led by off-spinner Baba Aparajith as they got bundled out for a mere 196.

Chasing a modest target, Chand and Akhil Herwadkar sent the islanders on a leather hunt as they put up 121 runs together for the opening wicket.

The skipper in particular was in a devastating mood as he hit the bowlers all around the park during his unbeaten knock of 122 from 91 balls, studded with five sixes and 14 hits to the fence.

Herwadkar also raised his half-century before falling prey to Pulina Tharanga.

The bowler struck once again, dismissing Kumar Deobrat, with the hosts needing another 31 runs to win.

Indians, though, lost one more wicket in the form of Smit Patel who was run out for just three runs. Chand combined with Hanuman Vihari to achieve the target in the 31st over.

Earlier, Aparajith and Vikas Mishra shared eight wickets among themselves to restrict the Islanders to a modest total.

While Tamil Nadu lad Aparajith, who won the man-of-the-match award for his all-round performance against Australia earlier this week, scalped five for 35 from his 10 overs, Mishra returned with the figures of three for 37 to unsettle the Lankans who were at one stage going smoothly at 87 for one.

The Lankans had a decent start to their innings with the openers adding 38 runs for the first wicket before Harmeet Singh dismissed Shehan Fernando.

Niroshan Dickwella then coupled with Lasith Abeyratne to raise his fifty and take the total to 87 before the visitors lost three wickets in quick succession, including that of the half-centurion to find themselves reeling at 88 for 4.

Pulina Tharanga (31) and Tharindu Kaushal (40) then combined together to give some respectability to the total, but with Tharanga shown the way to pavilion by Aparajith, it was all but over for the visitors.

A crucial 54-run stand for the eighth wicket between Kaushal and Amila Aponso, however, saw the team reach 194 before the spinners wrapped it up in the 45th over.

In the other game, West Indies beat Australia by eight wickets. Australia made 232 for six in its 50 overs. In its reply, West Indies overhauled the target with eight wickets to spare. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite led the side to the win with a brilliant 104. (ICC)
